Welcome to two digital knowledge seminars within the framework of Contemporary Art Days 2025 (Samtidskonstdagarna).

Earlier this year, we arranged “Kraftsamlingen” to get input on the content for this year’s edition of Contemporary Art Days. In an overwhelming part of the input, it became obvious that art policy, the place of art in society and the situation of art actors in Sweden today are pressing issues. Therefore, the Public Art Agency is arranging two digital knowledge seminars that deal with how art should meet the public and what we really mean when we talk about “the public”.

The PR agency The Swedish Thing will lead the work over two half-days. During the sessions, we will get different perspectives on how art actors can work practically with art’s encounter with the public.

Date, theme and registration

29 August, Seminar 1: Art in the crossfire

Art often arouses emotions and can quickly end up in the eye of the storm. How come?
Welcome to a seminar about the conditions of public discourse, the public’s expectations and how this in turn affects how art is perceived. You will receive tools to understand the contexts and to be able to navigate them more confidently.

10 September, Seminar 2: Spreading knowledge that makes a difference

How can we as art actors contribute to providing more knowledge about art?
Welcome to a seminar where we explore how experiences, facts and stories can be spread in ways that strengthen the understanding of art in shared spaces, both in organisations and in society at large. You will receive tools to work more effectively and achieve results.
