Christian Partos’s art seems to defy what is mechanically and technically possible. Several of his works seem to have been given an inexplicable life. There are two of his works at the M-building at Lund University, Kugghjulshjärtan (2023) and Bänglar (2024).
The work Kugghjulshjärtan (Gearwheel Hearts) is placed on the grass slope north of the entrance. To get the two heart-shaped gears in motion requires precision and great mechanical skill. They can inspire students and researchers to think in new ways and take on challenges that may seem impossible to solve. It is also possible to regard the work as an image of cooperation and trust. Like two forms, or bodies, finding ways to interact with each other.
Bänglar (2024)
The work Bänglar (Rascals) in one of the courtyards consists of swaying straws that move with an inner force. You can read this as a story about the relationship between individuals. Each straw has its own will, but for everything to work, a consensus and mutual respect between each individual is required.
