Lolland III by Henrik Lund Jørgensen

A lonely brick building on a muddy field, seemingly with no road to or from it. The surrounding ground is ploughed up and next to the building, in a narrow strip, some greenery is still visible. The sky is grey and foggy. In the photograph Lolland III by Henrik Lund Jørgensen, it is difficult to make out what is on the horizon behind the building

Sheer curtains are drawn in front of the windows and it is not easy to determine what time of day the photograph was taken. The image harbours both stillness and movement. The atmosphere is as if taken from a film and could be a scene from everyday life as well as being staged, down to the last detail.

Henrik Lund Jørgensen often works with the countryside and agriculture as a theme. He grew up on a farm in the community of Stokkemarke on the island of Lolland in Denmark, which he left at the age of 18 to study art. Since 2013, Lund Jørgensen has been working in parallel with his artistic career with a film and art project that deals with the death of his father and the subsequent time when he, as an only child, inherited the farm and was forced to reflect on how he would carry it forward.
