Flying Pheasant is a two-metre long laser-cut textile work made from surplus flame-resistant curtains. Artist Naam Anomasiri likes to use fabric remnants from public environments in her work and give them a new, more playful life in a completely different three-dimensional form.
Perhaps it is a flying pheasant that we see – or something else entirely. The material determines how it is shaped, Anomasiri sets out from what she has available. The colours and the weight of the fabric lead the way. With her background as an architect, Naam Anomasiri has a special interest in exploring space and its limitations in her art.
