In our cities, on bronze horses, proud kings quietly stare above our heads. Their history and visual male dominance daily manifested and passed on to the next generation. Where are the women and their stories? This was the start for City Horses that since the premiere 2017 has galloped through cities all over the world raising questions about power, existence and the female body in the public space, as a living monument in constant motion.

With its theme, City Horses, wants to connect to the island’s military history in a time of increased international conflicts, and ask what role art can play in these times. Byström Källblad is a Swedish duo consisting of choreographer Anna Källblad and artist Helena Byström. They work in Sweden and internationally.
