The Public Art Agency will become part of Moderna Museet starting 1 January 2026, in accordance with a government decision. Our activities will continue and to begin with, the Public Art Agency will be a separate department at Moderna Museet in an interim organisation.
For those of you who are head of art:
During the transition of our activities, there will probably be interruptions in our administrative systems during a period after the new year when the systems are migrated. This applies, for example, to the diary, i.e., the application portal receiving authorities’ applications for new art, requests for revoked liability and decisions on new heads of art. We are working to ensure that the case handling continues to be managed as smoothly as possible, but we apologise in advance for any delays during the month of January.
For those of you who have an agreement with the Public Art Agency:
In connection with the transition of our activities, existing agreements will be transferred to Moderna Museet. The transition will take place in accordance with applicable law and aims to ensure continuity in the collaboration. If your agreement contains a transfer clause that requires approval, please contact us as soon as possible if you do not wish your agreement to be transferred to the new authority.
For those of you who collaborate with the Public Art Agency in art projects, programme activities, academic collaborations, education, network meetings, dissemination of knowledge:
Work on the planned projects and collaboration agreements will continue as usual even after the turn of the year.
The Public Art Agency has existed as an independent authority since 1937 and has contributed to many people’s first encounter with the public art that is present in our everyday lives. The authority has also supported artists and the art ecosystem, developed and disseminated knowledge about public art and society’s shared environments. All in close collaboration with others. Thank you for your cooperation and your contribution to our activities! We look forward to continued collaboration under new management starting January 1 2026.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
