Meet the art and the artists: Future Island

The artwork Future Island raises questions about climate, art and crisis awareness. Welcome to an in-depth talk between artists and researchers. What roles do people, nature, culture and the environment play in the future? What new perspectives do we need to be open to when we take on the challenges of the future?

Emerging in a stream at Campus Albano at Stockholm University, Future Island is a living artwork. The island is divided into two zones, one of which is sustainably heated to be five degrees Celsius warmer than the other. The changes that occur over time will demonstrate the impact of climate change on nature.

Participants

The talk begins with a presentation by Lotta Mossum, curator Future Island, and OOZE (Eva Pfannes and Sylvain Hartenberg) and Marjetica Potrč, who are the creators of the work. This is followed by an in-depth talk with Cecilia Åsberg, professor and researcher, and Karim Jebari, philosopher and futurist.

The talk is held in English.
