Maria W Horn “Aether”

For ten days the building Kasern II, home of Public Art Agency Sweden, will come to life in Maria W Horn’s Aether, an audiovisual composition for light, brass instruments and electronic sounds.

On a number of occasions, the work will expand to include a live musical performance by brass musicians Ivo Nilsson, Tobias Wiklund, Sami Al Fakir and Emil Strandberg. The trumpet, tuba and trombone will complement the harmony of the synthetic sounds with a musical ornament that will take us on a journey through time and space.

Aether is specifically created for Public Art Agency Sweden’s building, Kasern II, a former navy barrack for a long time. To enter the building, one must pass through a portal displaying Pär Broman’s mystical work Eter, created in 1992.

Maria W Horn draws inspiration from both Broman’s work and the mystery surrounding aether, believed to be the fifth element, as well as the naval history of the building. Aether activates both the indoor and outdoor spaces of Kasern II. Late afternoons and early evenings you will be able to experience Aether outdoors.

You can visit Aether indoors Monday to Friday, February 16th to 24th 4 PM to 6 PM.
