The idea of the adventure playground The Balloon has been resurrected. The Model: A Model for a Qualitative Society was a legendary exhibition in the form of an adventure playground displayed at Moderna Museet in Stockholm in 1968, and later at Råby. The initiative came from Råby resident Irma Sohlman. Now the project continues in our own time.

What´s happening?

The People’s Movement for Art Promotion Västmanland and the Västerås Art Museum’s art project The Balloon – Play for Real takes its starting point in the adventure playground that Irma Sohlman presented in Råby in the late 1960s. The goal of Art is Happening is to strengthen the project and explore topical discussions about a creative space for children and how children can develop through artistic processes. This summer artist Michael Beutler will conduct a workshop with local residents. Later this year he will present a sketch proposal for a permanent artwork. The community centre Knytpunkten works towards creating meeting places across generational boundaries and serves as a platform for the project.
