On the Visible – Meet and Greet new CuratorLab

Welcome to a presentation by Matteo Lucchetti, Judith Wielander, Visible project’s curators in dialogue with Joanna Warsza, Head of CuratorLab and Charles Esche, director of Van Abbemuseum and new CuratorLab group for 2019–2020.

For the academic year 2019/2020 CuratorLab takes a form of a long-term jury and the temporary parliament asking how to curate socially engaged artistic practices? How can art institutions go beyond exhibition and display towards agency and engagement?

What is and could be a place for curators in this process? The evening will open up with some of those questions, as well as the presentation of nine CuratorLab participants. The whole year research will end with a final presentation on the topic, in collaboration with Public Art Agency Sweden in Stockholm in May 2020.

Organizers: CuratorLab at Konstfack, Visible (Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto/Fondazione Zegna), Public Art Agency Sweden and Italian Institute Stockholm organize On the Visible – Meet and Greet new CuratorLab.

Visible is a platform that researches, supports and produces socially engaged artistic practices in a global context. It supports art that becomes visible as something else: in the fields of law, environment, politics, migration or economy – such as The Silent University, Conflict Kitchen, Forensic Architecture or the Karrabing Film Collective. This kind of expanded forms of art demands also rethinking of curatorial skills.

CuratorLab at Konstfack is a 60 credits curatorial course for professionals in Arts, Crafts, Design & Architecture. Joanna Warsza is the Program Director and senior lecturer of CuratorLab.
